A delegation of Vivek High School comprising of 10 students, namely, Anshika Singla (8 B), Abhay Kanwardeep Singh (9 D), Gurik Brar (10 A), Anvi Gupta (10 B), Shaurya Mittal and Aarav Joshi (11 A). Rudransh Rajput (11 B). Jairaj Basur . Manraj Chandpuri and Prabhjot Badwal (12 C1), accompanied by Ms. Neelu Duggal, attended the 13th edition of St. James’ School, Kolkata- JacoMUN’23 from 17 to 19 July 2023.
Eight unconventional committees like the United Nations Historic Security Council, ISPOLKOM, the Pakse Summit and many others were simulated at the JaCoMUN conference. Participating in the Kolkata circuit for the first time was a new learning experience.
In such a drastically different environment, our team learnt about various methods and provisions of MUNing which included forms of debate which simulated in this circuit. Delegates deliberated upon various pertinent agendas like, “The Aftermath of the 9/11 Attacks”, “The Partition of India”, “The Great Recession of 2008” and “Russian Political Parties in the early 1900s”.
Freeze dates and constant crises helped the delegates produce innovative and unique solutions combatting pressing issues from the past, present as well as future.
This conference gave the delegates a chance to master various important skills like diplomacy, public speaking, and advocating for what’s right. The participants learnt the power of words, the importance of compromise and the value of presenting meaningful solutions.
Anvi Gupta and Anshika Singla won the Special Mention in United Nations General Assembly comprising of nearly 45 delegates.
Manraj Chandpuri and Prabhjot Singh got Verbal Mention in United Nations Historic Security Council (one of the most challenging committees simulated at the JaCoMUN’23. Their phenomenal paperwork and detailed communiqués were appreciated and acknowledged by the Executive Board during the Closing Ceremony as well.
