A Virtual International Collaboration was hosted by the senior school students at The Millennium School, Dubai on the 4th & 5th of December 2023. The student delegates from Eco Club were Amrit Bawa, Aanvi Bahri, Vibhi Chadha, Meher Abrol, Prabhleen Sandha from class 10 with adult delegate Ms Bindiya Khanna.
The theme for this collaboration, ‘Global Boiling: the time to act is now!’ was designed to raise responsible global citizens and embrace the Round Square IDEALS of Environment and Service and work towards the shared goal of environmental protection! As a pre-collaboration task, the delegates prepared a 1-minute video on the activities undertaken by school to support environmental protection and prevent climate change.
The first day of the collaboration began with a meet and greet. The keynote speaker Dr. Ramit Debnath, an assistant professor at the University of Cambridge gave much-appreciated insight on the global effects of climate change and the urgent need for action. The delegates were then assigned to their respective baraza rooms namely Climate Justice, Climate Resilience and Adaptation, Climate Change and Food Security, Gender and Climate Change, Sustainable Urban Planning and Design. The collaboration helped to amplify efforts and create more effective and comprehensive solutions as an individual as well as a community.
The second day was just as informative and interactive as the first. The delegates were once again directed to baraza sessions and the leaders were chosen from each group to conclude the key points discussed to combat the challenges posed by climate change and take a pledge. The sessions were not mere talks but vibrant discussions that ignited intellectual curiosity and fostered a sense of global union. It was truly a fruitful and enlightening experience.
This Round Square Collaboration, a convergence of diverse minds and cultures, proved to be a collection of ideas and collaboration that left an indelible mark on our perspective towards environment.
